Short trips to nearby villages offer a refreshing escape and bring you so close to nature that you'll become an eternal ambassador and admirer of the enchanting Evrytania scenery. If you have some time on your hands, we would suggest a few short tours. Whichever you choose, rest assured it will be an unforgettable experience.

1. Megalo Chorio – Chryso – Kerasochori – Agrafa – Vragiana

   Discover the pristine nature of central-western Evrytania, situated between the Megdova (Tavropos) and Achelous rivers. The rugged terrain will lead you to the historic village of Chryso, known for its rich history and distinctive beauty. Explore the charming chapel of Agios Serafeim Koronis and the two old stone bridges that tell tales from the past.

   Enjoy the serene village square, surrounded by towering plane trees and the melodious sound of the river’s flow. Visit the Seven Springs, dating back centuries, and pay tribute to the church of Panagia with its artistically crafted wooden iconostasis.

   Next, head to Kerasochori, a central hub of the region that played a significant role during the Greek Revolution. Visit the 1780 church with its intriguing frescoes. Continue to Agrafa, the birthplace of notable educators, and explore the historic church of Agia Paraskevi, as well as the spring "Fontana."

2. Visit to Proussos

   Ascend to Proussos, a pilgrimage site surrounded by stunning landscapes. Follow the Potamia Valley to enjoy the tranquility and natural beauty. Along the way, stop at the "House of the River" and marvel at the spectacular "Imprint," where it is said the Virgin Mary passed.

3. Monastery of Tatarna

   The Monastery of Tatarna, built in the 16th century, is located 70 km from Karpenisi. With a long history as a refuge for revolutionaries, it is now an important pilgrimage site and landmark of Western Evrytania. Visitors can admire its historical relics and beautiful grounds. The route from Megalo Chorio to the Monastery of Tatarna offers stunning views of the artificial lake of Achelous.

4. Route Megalo Chorio – Karpenisi – Stenoma – Agia Triada

   Enjoy the journey from Megalo Chorio to Stenoma, through lush green expanses and historic villages. At the location "Margarita," especially in May, nature will impress you with a plethora of wildflowers. Finish in Stenoma to discover its historic square and the Megdova Bridge.

5. Stroll in Karpenisi

   Karpenisi becomes a cultural hub in the summer, with theatrical performances, music concerts, and exhibitions. Wander through the town, taste the "eternal water" from the square, and visit Kefalovryso and the hill of Agios Dimitrios for breathtaking views.

6. Velouchi Ski Center

   The Velouchi Ski Center, at an altitude of 1,840 meters, offers 10 slopes for all skill levels. It is an ideal destination for winter sports and is located just 12 km from Karpenisi. Visitors can enjoy the unparalleled beauty of the alpine landscape and the activities offered at the center.
